I managed to score blizzcon tickets, HECK YEAH!
4th year in a row. I love it!
I feel like there isn’t enough vocal positivity in this fandom as there should be, so in spirit of the Season 4 finale and a big charity auction project I’ve been working on (that’s been quickly growing bigger than I ever thought possible, but I don’t want to spoil anything yet!) I wanted to express my congratulations, appreciation, and gratitude to the entire cast and crew of MLP, no matter how big or small each person’s contribution may be. I know it’s just a small gesture, but I hope that it will maybe inspire others to do the same and get the good vibes going. <3
I won’t go on a long ramble about what the show and the community has done for me as an individual and as an artist, cause I’m sure you all have better things to do than read a long-winded summary of sentimental thoughts and backstory or something. But I just want to say that no matter how crummy things get, be it drama or dumb loudmouth idiots that just want something to complain about, I love the show, I love the community, and I love the people that make it happen. You’re all wonderful and I am absolutely humbled to have had the opportunity to meet so many of you and be blessed with such amazing memories (and it’s certainly not over yet, of course!).
To everyone that had a hand in making this series what it is, thank you. Your hard work is appreciated and loved, and I think I can speak for a lot of us when I say it means a lot.
I personally haven’t.
It’s a recipe I use for work that’s easily scalable and flexible (I normally do 2-3 times the posted quantities and change what I use in it for flavor)
Something like almond flour is expensive, and the site actually has a strict budget.
The good thing with that recipe is it’s so adaptable, the quantities needn’t be exact, and you’ll still get close to the same end result.
I’ve decided to create a sort of running “series” of topics for this blog which I’ll header under the title “Let’s Discuss…”
The concept is simple, send me an ask, or submission with the title “Let’s discuss” then a topic for discussion.
However it should also include a statement/comment regarding your position on the matter. This setup will have a small set of rules however:
- Be specific. Whatever you wish to discuss should not be vague. just staying “bronies” for example is too vague for a topic (unless you go into a specific reason in your comment) and will not be considered.
- Be polite, no attacks. some of the issues can be very emotive at times, any attacks/harassment will not be tolerated when sending a topic and will be ignored.
- State your position properly. When submitting, provide what could be considered a reasonable level of your own thoughts for the discussion.
- I will not discuss specific people or their actions. this is a big one, don’t come to discuss a particular person for any reason, I’ll reject it instantly. this is for more broad spectrum discussion, not gossip about others.
Any submissions can be anonymous, If using the submit system, let me know at the start so that I won’t publish it by accident.
The responses I give will be my view on matters, and I’ll try to address anything brought up in the submission.
I want to keep this as civil as possible. disagreements are welcome, encouraged even.
I know I can’t control how people react and what they post, but I’d like this to be a respectful forum for discussion.
Something I’m starting as a regular feature on my side blog.
Whoo, new side blog to reduce ranty clutter on chef-pony-rei
There will sometimes be NSFW stuff here, and I’ll do tmi Tuesdays here too..
Call Yourself Something Else
Anonymous asked askasanebrony:
I just wanted to chip in as an anti-brony: I have absolutely nothing against males of any ages being fans of MLP. Brony as a term is ridiculous with underlying sexist issues, as if men can’t like ponies without differentiating themselves from the other fans and letting everyone know that they’re special (read: male) and total BROS. Plus nowadays the word has got serious negative connotations I don’t really understand why call yourself one. You seem very smart though, all the best! x
In which I explain the origin of Brony (again) and how the origin proves that it was never sexist or intending to defeminate the show at all — it was a play on words made as a spur of the moment pun.
Coupled with the evidence that the silent majority of the Brony fandom is good, we can say that there’s nothing wrong with Brony.
So why bother with the label in the first place? Well firstly, every fandom has some kind of label. But ‘MLP-fan’ or ‘fan of my little pony’ doesn’t exactly roll of the tongue.
The MLP fandom became a movement, the movement was how it brought all these people together who would otherwise not have involved themselves and stayed at home in their rooms. To them, and to everyone else, they feel like they’re more than /just fans/ of MLP — that’s why they call themselves bronies.
So, everyone likes cookies right?
(If you say no, you’re obviously lying 😛 )
Here, have a dead simple recipe. This is the one used to make the cookies in the picture. It should make somewhere around 5 dozen cookies (give or take a few, based on how large you make them)
ALL MEASUREMENTS ARE METRIC.
500g butter
500g brown sugar
4 cups plain flour
400g chocolate (or whatever flavoring you like, it doesn’t matter much)
Beat the butter and sugar until light, add the chocolate (or whatever flavoring you’re using)
Mix until combined, add flour and mix a further minute.
Using trays lined with non stick baking paper, evenly space pieces of the dough (roughly a dessert spoon size each) flatten them slightly if you wish.
Cook in an oven set to 170 degrees Celsius for 17 minutes.
Haha, thanks
Yeah it was taken a few days ago before I opened for service in the morning.
I work on a minesite in the Pilbara region of Western Australia, so I’m in the middle of nowhere most of the time.
